On 17 Mar 1866 when Martha was 35, she married Joseph Newsom (204) , son of Willis Newsom (65) & Sarah Hall, in New Garden MM, Wayne, Indiana. Born on 24 May 1828 in , Bartholomew, Indiana or Wayne, North Carolina. Joseph died in Sandcreek, Bartholomew, Indiana, in 1879; he was 50.

They had the following children:
