17. John Jay Portwood. Born on 12 May 1860 in Bourbon Co, KS. John Jay died in Condon, Gilliam, Oregon, on 21 Sep 1937; he was 77.

On 23 Dec 1887 when John Jay was 27, he married Mary Isabel Carter in Condon, Gilliam, Oregon. Born on 19 Dec 1862 in Iowa. Mary Isabel died in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon, on 24 Dec 1950; she was 88.

They had the following children:

	i.	Marcus Henry. Born on 16 Nov 1888 in Mayville, Gilliam, Oregon. Marcus Henry died in Washington on 19 Jun 1910; he was 21.

18. Henry S. Portwood. Born in Oct 1863 in Bourbon, Kansas. Henry S. died in Salinas, Monterey, California, on 7 Jul 1948; he was 84.

Henry S. first married Lou Denny in Lafayette, Yamhill, Oregon. Lou died in 1890.

They had one child:

Elta Dee. Born in Oct 1889 in Oregon.

In 1892 when Henry S. was 28, he second married Ruby Haines. Ruby died in 1953 in Fresno, Fresno, California.

On 28 Jun 1885 when Mary Paralee was 20, she married John G. Stephens in Condon, Gilliam, Oregon.
